Part 2 in our top honeymoon destinations 2019 blog series takes us to Italy. Italy is the the number one European destination that our clients are choosing for a honeymoon trip. Venice, Florence & Rome are the top 3 cities on their itinerary, with the average trip lasting 12 days.
Venice
Few cities can claim such a priceless art and history heritage as Venice. This unique city with spectacular scenery is not just beautiful; it is an example of engineering genius.
One of the most famous areas of the city is the world-renowned Grand Canal. Another unmistakable area is the central square in Venice, the Piazza San Marco. It is here you will find the Campanile bell and the stunning St. Mark’s Basilica.
Florence & Tuscany
Florence’s museums, palaces, and churches house some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world. The most popular and important sites in Florence include the Cathedral, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Accademia. The library of San Lorenzo is a magnificent exhibition of Michelangelo’s architectural genius.
Be sure to set aside time to see the vast art collection in the Pitti Palace. When you grow weary of museums and monuments, head outdoors. Spend a day at Boboli Gardens or climb the hill to the church of San Miniato al Monte to experience an amazing view of the city.
Florence is a great base from which to visit all that Tuscany has to offer. Day trips from Florence can be added to any honeymoon itinerary to visit Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano & Chianti.
Rome
All roads lead to Rome. You can decide to follow the typical tourist tracks or be brave enough to go off the beaten path. One way or another, Rome will romance and surprise you.
Rome is one of world’s most photographed cities, which is not surprising when you consider all of the historical and architectural sites found in one place; The Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, St Peter’s Square, the Spanish Steps, and the Colosseum.
Whether you spend your time sightseeing or watching the world go by from an outdoor cafe, you will definitely enjoy a Roman honeymoon.
