Congratulations on your engagement! Planning a honeymoon or wedding in paradise is exciting but there are some honeymoon & destination wedding weather concerns you should be aware of. Before you book your flights and hotel suites, it’s best if you look into the weather forecast ahead of time.
Rainy Season
The rainy season in the Caribbean runs from the middle of April through the end of November. In some areas, the season might start as late as June, while in others, it might run longer into December. Rainy season in central and southern Mexico lasts roughly from May or June through October or November. Some months will have more rainfall than others; your travel advisor will make recommendations and offer you options so your dream trip isn’t a complete washout. When planning a destination wedding, we always have a plan B in case of weather.
Hurricane Season
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 with the peak period occurring in early August through the end of October. This includes the entire Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. There are 5 islands which are less likely to experience hurricanes; Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, the Dominican Republic & Barbados.
Best Temperatures
The best time to take a beach vacation or visit the Caribbean is considered to be from December to April, when it’s slightly cooler, drier and less humid. Spring and summer are the hottest months in Mexico; for more temperate climates October through March are better.
Time of day
For those planning a destination wedding, the time of day you choose for your ceremony & reception are very important. Avoid the hottest time of the day so you and your guests are not sweltering under the Caribbean or Mexico sun. The hottest time of the day is around 3 p.m. Heat continues building up after noon, when the sun is highest in the sky.
