We are constantly asked the question by clients; “is it safe to visit Mexico?” Bad things can happen, but statistics show that the chance of being a victim of crime are greater at home. As of this writing, Mexico is a level 2; Jamaica, Turks & Caicos and the Dominican Republic are also a level 2 just to name a few popular Caribbean island destinations.

A recent report issued by the Los Cabos tourism board shows tourism has grown since this time last year. Los Cabos has had a record six percent growth in domestic and international visitors year-to-date, an increase driven largely by the nation’s investment in dramatically improving safety and security over the last year. Los Cabos has seen a 90 percent reduction in violent crime since October of 2017. 7 out of 10 visitors to Los Cabos are repeat guests, and 90 percent of first-time visitors say they would return; 20 percent of repeat guests visit Los Cabos at least four times per year.

When visiting another country anywhere in the world, exercise caution just like you would at home. Do not go off alone, don’t accept rides or offers of tours from random strangers, and do not go looking to buy drugs. The travel and tourism industry in Los Cabos is growing at a steady rate; why is this significant? It shows that travelers will continue to visit Los Cabos in the years ahead. New investments in direct flight routes and hotels are on the rise; with more than 500 weekly flights and over 1,000 hotel rooms added in 2018 and 1,200 more to be opened before the year ends.
