The winter season is upon us, which means a ton of people will be taking to the roads and the skies this season to explore the best winter wonderlands. The coldest months of the year usually bring with them some of the most beautiful sights to see. Winter has its fair share of spectacular places to visit. Here are some of my favorite spots, and the best places for a winter getaway.
Utrecht, Netherlands
Filled with beautiful old homes, bridges, and canals, Utrecht is often referred to as a little Amsterdam, just with fewer tourists, especially in the winter months. Visit the Dom Tower, St. Martins Cathedral, and DOMunder.
At DOMunder you can explore some of the Netherlands’ best archaeological treasures. This is the perfect activity if you’re interested in Roman and medieval history. If music is more of your jam, connect with your inner musician at the Speelklok Museum.
Bavaria, Germany
A well-known tourist attraction and wintery getaway, Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most visited castles in Germany. Located in the Alps in Bavaria, Germany, in a magnificent landscape, on the top of a hill, the castle overlooks the Hohenschwangau valley, close to the town of Fussen. The fairytale look of the castle inspired Disney to create the Magic Kingdom.
The best time to visit the castle is during the months of March, April, and May when the snow is not too deep.
Reykjavik, Iceland
This city is consistently voted as one of the top destinations for winter travel in the world. One of the most famous attractions in Reykjavik is the Blue Lagoon, where you can experience the geothermal waters.
Winter is the best time to visit, as the Northern Lights are at their peak. Explore glaciers, go ice cave trekking, and enjoy outdoor adventures that include snowmobiling.
The winter season is one of the most exciting times of the year, as it brings with it the holidays, and a chance to enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery!

A country filled with beautiful locations begging to be discovered. A melting pot of cultures with some of the most amazing food and beaches you will ever see. If you are looking for an adventure off the beaten path, the Philippines is the place to go. Made up of more than 7,000 islands. Its three main islands are Luzon (where the capital city is), Visayas, and Mindanao. The best places to visit in the country are mostly beaches, some tourist-friendly like Boracay, and some that you would have to travel further for, to find heaven on the sand. Being travel-friendly, a folding electric bike is the perfect companion for vacationers and frequent travelers.
African Safari
An African safari is the ultimate bucket list experience if you are interested in animals and nature. Explore Victoria Falls and the Serengeti. See the best of Kenya and Tanzania. Experience wildlife up close with a local guide. Accommodations range from luxury lodges to rustic safari camps. Explore hidden gems, discover the charms of Cape town, and you can sip the best wines in Stellenbosch.
Australia
Australia is a bucket list destination in and of itself. From the history-rich cities to the Outback, Australia is a fascinating place to visit. There are many species of animals that you can only find in Australia. The Koala, Kangaroo, Wombat, and the Thorny Devil. There are some animals that really stand out amongst all the others. One of them is the Emu! These flightless birds can still be found in the wild and are believed to be extinct. Plan to go on an Emu adventure!
South America Safari
A trip that is truly a bucket list trip in itself. The South America Safari is one of the most challenging and beautiful wildlife experiences you will ever have. Taking you from the rainforests of Brazil to the snow-capped peaks of Chile, this journey is sure to be an unforgettable experience. From the moment you step off the plane in Antigua and see its beaches, you’ll know why this is one of the world’s most beautiful romantic destinations. The capital city of this Caribbean island nation has a tropical feel with its many oceanside hotels and resorts, colonial-era buildings, and colorful streets. There are also plenty of places to visit within a 10-30 minute drive from the bewitching capital. I cover two of the best resorts for a romantic getaway in Antigua and some destination tips.
If you’ve got a hankerin’ for some tropical bliss, get ready to travel to one of the most beautiful destinations in the world — Antigua, and Barbuda. This island nation is famous for its white-sand beaches, idyllic lagoons, and palm-fringed bays. But the real charm of this Caribbean island lies in its warm people. The capital city, St. John’s, is a small town by global standards, but it’s home to a vibrant cultural scene with numerous historic destinations and activities to suit every couple. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway that will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed, plan a visit to Antigua.
Where to Stay in Antigua
Antigua is an old-world charm with a contemporary edge. The pace of life is relaxed, with a laid-back island culture that blends traditional ways with the modern. There’s a reason Antigua was once called the “party island.” The island is packed with charming resorts offering a tropical oasis right on the edge of the Caribbean sea. If you’re looking for a cozy getaway with a difference, consider Hammock Cove or Cocobay Resort.
Hammock Cove has 42 villas, and some that include private plunge pools. Set on the island’s quiet north shore, this all-inclusive adults-only resort has a spa, Michelin-level dining, food and drink service on the beach, and wine and cooking classes.
Cocobay is an upscale all-inclusive resort with a collection of pastel hillside cottages, with paths leading down to the white-sand beaches. Private meals and torchlit beach dinners are on the menu, and the resort offers a “floating pool” experience where meals are served on a floating table in your private pool. That’s a one-of-a-kind vacation experience!
Best Food in Antigua
The best food in Antigua comes from the island’s wide variety of locales — from the home of the country’s national dish, the Indian Stews, to beachfront grills. For meat lovers, you can’t miss the biltong, a type of thinly sliced meat that is similar to jerky. For dessert, try the Belgian waffles and ice cream at Fred’s.
The beaches of Antigua are some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. The best place to start your tour of the island is by visiting the idyllic Caribbean beachfront of West End. Once there, you’re in for an unforgettable experience. You’ll have the perfect weather, a backdrop of palm trees, and a clear horizon to enjoy the perfect beachside atmosphere.
