The last two years have greatly impacted how we live, work, and travel. With restrictions around the globe easing, and travel making a BIG comeback, let’s take a look at a few of the top travel trends for 2023 and beyond!

Epic Trips

Revenge travel has never been hotter, and big bucket-list trips are taking travelers (and travel advisors) by storm. With all of the time spent at home, in lockdown, teaching your kids through remote schooling, and saving money that would ordinarily be spent on vacations– travelers are ready to go all out on their next escape.

Active travelers are planning treks across the Serengeti or looking to scale Machu Pichu. Luxury lovers are considering pampered stays at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, or yachting across the Med, and honeymooners are dreaming about not just one, but two or more honeymoon destinations – all rolled into a loved-up mega getaway!

Workcations

More employees are taking their laptops on the road and blurring the lines between work and play. Whether it’s a weeklong escape to a cabin or a month-long tropical getaway, as long as there’s a WiFi connection – workcations can be made possible.

While gracing the 2022 travel trends list, workcations are not new. Digital nomads have been plugging away on their laptops for years in the jungles of Costa Rica, the beaches of Mexico, and at cafes in Paris. Now it’s just an option for an increasing number of remote workers.

Staycations

Something else that we’ve all done a lot lately is staying home. While there’s great comfort in your own space, there’s also something to be said for soft high-thread-count sheets, room service, and uninterrupted quiet time.

For individuals who are unable to travel, staycations can provide the perfect antidote. Local spa visits and hotel stays. Discovering nearby attractions. Travelers don’t need to venture far to relax, unwind, or explore somewhere new.

Niche Travel

Travel is deeply personal, and for many, their trip is built around a specific theme or desire to learn.

Growing with popular demand is voluntourism (combining your holiday with giving back). Culinary tourism (with a focus on regional cuisine, chefs, and cooking classes). Agro Tourism (visiting working farms or ranches), polar tourism, and even getting in line for space exploration.

Winter Beach Vacation Ideas

During the winter months, finding a beach vacation spot can be a little difficult.  It doesn’t have to be. Below, you’ll find some resorts that offer a very unique twist, and will inspire you with winter beach vacation ideas.

Molokai Ranch and Lodge

On a white sand shore on the tiny Hawaiian island of Molokai, guests will stay in comfortable and unique tents.  Each double unit canvas bungalow sits on a wooden platform and offers queen-size or twin beds, solar-powered lights, and a private bathroom with hot water showers. The Molokai Ranch and Lodge offers over 54,000 acres, including seaside cliffs with very lush valleys.  The outdoor activities here include sea kayaking, cultural hikes, mountain biking, and horseback rides.

Grand Wailea Resort and Spa of Hawaii

Long ago, a big swimming pool was enough to make guests happy.  Nowadays, resorts compete in water activities such as lagoons, waterfalls, water slides, and even lazy rivers. Therefore, the Grand Wailea Resort offers several attractions, such as the 4,580 square foot Hibiscus pool, and the 25,700 square foot Canyon activity pool.

Virgin Islands

The US Virgin Islands National Park is a very unique vacation spot with white sandy beaches and lodging in comfortable tent cottages at Maho Bay. Therefore, as with the Molokai Ranch, guest cottages are built on platforms and designed to be both attractive and comfortable.  Each one has a sleeping area, bed linen, towels, kitchen utensils, stove, ice cooler, and even a private deck. Water sports include kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, and scuba diving.  There is also an outdoor restaurant and a food store for those who want to cook from the privacy of their own room.

These are just a few of the unique winter beach vacation ideas that I have to share with you. Contact me for your personalized recommendations, and to start planning your winter beach vacation.
