Thinking about getting married in Mexico often involves dreaming about sunny, tropical, and warm destinations. You’ll find that many areas throughout Mexico fit this description, including Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, and Riviera Maya. Including its pristine white beaches, Mexico has a lot to offer to those who want an unforgettable destination wedding, or intimate elopement.

Cabo San Lucas

Because Cabo San Lucas was initially designed as a vacation town, you’ll find all the amenities you and your wedding party needs for a perfect destination wedding. For example, couples love hosting their wedding overlooking the mountainous landscape or taking a romantic boat ride to El Arco.

Cancun

In Cancun’s exciting and lively atmosphere, you and your wedding party have many opportunities to create unforgettable memories. In addition to finding 24/7 entertainment, Cancun is also a hotspot for romance and tranquility.

Cozumel

Cozumel’s island is just off the coast of Cancun, and this tropical oasis features incredible reefs and spectacular sunsets. After taking a ferry from Cancun, exchange your vows in a romantic and secluded atmosphere.

Ensenada

Many who visit Ensenada refer to it as “heaven on earth.” Above all, here you and your guests are met by enchanting Pacific Ocean views that mix perfectly with the desert vibes. A popular venue in this area that you will love, is the El Cielo Winery Resort.

Isla Mujeres

If you’re looking for a laid-back vibe, you can’t go wrong with getting married in Isla Mujeres. Because of it’s off the beaten path, you and your guests don’t have to worry about the hustle and bustle of the surrounding vacation hot spots. The venues throughout the region are smaller, and therefore will provide a boutique feel to your wedding.

Puerto Vallarta

With its location between mountain’s and the Pacific Ocean, as a result Puerto Vallarta has breathtaking views and a charming downtown. During your time in Puerto Vallarta, treat your wedding guests to opportunities to explore the country’s culture, cuisine, and adventures. For example, they can bungee jump or zip line in nearby jungles!

Riviera Maya

Not only does this destination have breathtaking views, but you’ll also find bright blue ocean water, calm breezes, and white-sand beaches. Because of its record number of all-inclusive resorts, some of which offer complimentary wedding packages, planning your wedding has never been easier.

Riviera Nayarit

Previously known by locals as a secret surf town. Riviera Nayarit has grown in popularity over the past few years as a wedding hot spot. Throughout the region, venues offer secluded and intimate settings. Couples looking for authentic Mexican romance and charm, choose Riviera Nayarit.

No matter if you’re looking for something fast-paced or laid-back, Mexico has the destination for you!

An Adventurous Elopement in Costa Rica

A story of love, patience, and hope. Sarah & Rick had planned for their symbolic adventurous elopement in Costa Rica for April of 2020. Like many other couples, their plans changed. When it was clear that travel to Costa Rica would not be possible, their plans were postponed until August of 2020. August was quickly approaching, and their home state of Kentucky was not on the list of states that could visit Costa Rica when traveling resumed. Once again, they had to postpone their plans and were hopeful that their wedding would take place in April of 2021.

I am happy to report that they celebrated their symbolic wedding this past April. Their intimate elopement took place in Guanacaste, at the Riu Palace Costa Rica. Their ceremony was on the beautiful resort beach of Matapalo. This fun and adventurous couple personalized their wedding with a sand ceremony. Their wedding day photography was provided by the resort’s preferred photography service, Wedding Day Story. Their photographer Brian Palacio, captured beautiful photos of the happy couple.

Sarah had found her wedding dress in 2019. It fit her perfectly, and she knew she had found the one. Sarah remarked after their elopement that she got to wear her wedding dress more than many other brides. She surprised Rick with a professional photo session at home, in 2019. They had a reception with their family and friends in April of 2021 prior to leaving for Costa Rica, and of course, she wore her beautiful dress again for their adventurous elopement in Costa Rica.

The resort is in the perfect location for an adventurous elopement. Sarah & Rick, along with Sarah’s parents enjoyed a day of adventure to the Arenal rainforest & hot springs. Sarah & Rick had some private adventures on their own. A zip line exploration and a tour to the Arenal Volcano. Following their ceremony, Sarah remarked, “We had a private dinner with a cake that was so good I almost passed out eating it.”
