5 Destination wedding decorating tips that won’t break the bank

5 Simple destination wedding decorating tips that will save you money & personalize your wedding

all inclusive destination wedding packages

  1.  Draw inspiration from your geographic location, or the type of music you like to listen to. Example, if you live in an area that is country, or if you really like country music, you can ask your guests attending your destination wedding to wear or bring with them cowboy boots and/or a cowboy hat. You can then use these items as the ‘vessel’ for your table centerpieces.
  2. The destination itself can offer ‘free’ items for inspiration & you can enlist the help of family & guests and have them involved in the decorating process. A beach location offers a perfect setting for gathering seashells to place in candle holders for enhancing that beach feel, and after your wedding the shells can be returned back to where you gathered them from. Recycled & reused with no waste
  3. When selecting flowers for your ceremony and reception, choose ones that are local to the destination. This will save you money.
  4. What is your color scheme? Ask the ladies attending to bring a sheer scarf in your primary color. These can then be used as an overlay on your tables, or fashioned together as a table runner.
  5. Ask each guest to bring a small votive candle, these can be used to decorate your tables and provide the ambiance you are looking for.

All Villa Resort in the Riviera Maya

On my recent visit to the Riviera Maya of Mexico, I focused on seeing resorts in Playa del Carmen that I have not seen before. Set in a tropical jungle like enclave along the white sands of Playa, is the home of the Viceroy. This all villa resort in the Riviera Maya offers luxury accommodations, amazing outdoor massage cabanas, and the views will leave you speechless.

The Viceroy offers 41 villas. It is adults only, but children over the age of 12 are welcome. The resort offers an all inclusive package that can be added to your stay. The are several villa categories to choose from; the best one is the beachfront villa where you are just steps from the sand.

Each villa includes your own heated private plunge pool, outdoor rain shower and a hammock for two. Renewed energy and wellness are all part of the experience at the Viceroy Riviera Maya. The spa treatments are based on natural local resources and Mayan traditions. During my visit, we were able to participate in a Mayan blessing ceremony. The spa services include many options for you to experience a Mayan journey.

You arrive at your destination, disembark the plane & make your way to the luggage area. You wait patiently as the bags start to make the trip around the carousel. Tips To Help Prevent Losing Your Luggage
  1. Luggage tags can go missing – attach more than one to your bag(s) and you can also tape a large address size label to the outside of your bag with your name & phone number using clear packing tape. Tape over the label and around the bag completely.
  2. Pack a copy of your complete travel itinerary including flight information and where you will be staying in your checked luggage. This information will make it easier for the airlines to forward it to you.
  3. Arrive at the airport early! It takes time for the airlines to load the bags and you don’t want yours to be left behind.
  4. Avoid short layovers. Bags can be left behind if the luggage handlers don’t have enough time to get them on your connecting flight(s).
  5. Make your bag stand out – use ribbon, colorful duct tape or an off the wall patterned or colored bag to prevent someone else from grabbing your suitcase. The most common luggage colors are navy, silver, grey, red and dark green.
  6. Take a picture of your bag(s) on your cell phone. It will help you if you have to file a lost luggage claim to show the airline staff exactly what your luggage looks like; this is extremely helpful if your bags are a common color.

Hope you found these tips to prevent losing your luggage helpful. Travel well, travel wisely, and let your feet take you where your heart is.
